We feel that! Here is a list of groups in the Shreveport - Bossier City area where you can meet other new families.
Macaroni KID Shreveport Bossier
With over 12,000 members & growing, this Facebook group is the one place where Northwest Louisiana Area moms can find parenting advice & support, learn more about the area, plan a fun girls, date night out, or playdate using the Macaroni KID Shreveport Bossier website resource guides & calendar which is kept updated almost daily. This group formed out of the original Red River Moms online forum and later was known as MomsLikeMe.com which moved over to Facebook when the local paper stopped supporting the online forum alongside longtime publisher & parent Mimi Rankin Webb.
This smaller more intimate sister group to Shreveport-Bossier Moms In the Know offers families a place to share information, experiences, ideas & support within Shreveport Bossier (Ark-La-Tex) & the surrounding area in the matters of all things special needs related including but not limited to Autism Spectrum, Cerebral Palsy, Downs , Sensory Integration Disorders & Issues, ADD/ADHD & the many other parenting & family challenges we go through in our day to day lives. It also offers events posts for family friendly events that can be enjoyed by everyone much in the way that the larger group does keeping families connected and included.
Families Helping Families Region 7 is a network of families who, because of their experiences have become committed to reaching out to individuals with disabilities and their families. This is a parent driven, coordinated network of services providing peer to peer support, trainings on disabilities topics as well as special education topics for parents, professionals, and our community partners. Caring for individuals with disabilities takes a wealth of support, knowledge and information. Connecting with others who have similar experiences gives families first-hand information and encouragement. They offer a parent support group which meets the second Friday of each month historically and can help get you connected with Early Steps, Medicaid, OCDD and other helpful services in the area designed for children and individuals who may have a developmental delay or disability. Basic Necessities: Diaper & Period Products Bank
Basic Necessities provides free diapers, period products & incontinence supplies to people facing economic challenges in the ArkLaTex. You can swap out your outgrown diapers for the right size with both open & unopened boxes are welcome. Their services are also free of charge and they are centrally located in Shreveport on Olive at the Highland Center.
Bossier And Caddo Parish Food Stamp Program
The Bossier and Caddo Parish Food Stamp Programs, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and LaCAP, provide monthly benefits to low-income households and Louisiana residents at least 60 years old to assist in a portion of their food budget, respectively. SNAP participants may also be eligible for Women, Infants & Children Program (WIC) offered by the Louisiana Department of Health. MOPS of Woodridge Baptist Church
MOPS is an acronym for Mother's of Preschoolers and is a Mom-meeting where you can enjoy crafts, mom-time & more while the kids have their own separate activities. These are primarily church-based in our area and require registration to attend. These can be a great way to get out and meet other Moms!
This is where you can share your outgrown baby clothing & equipment, maternity clothes, kids clothes and more with area families in need. EVERYTHING is posted for free and this is a great way to give back to our community!

Red River National Wildlife Refuge
The property remains open during daylight hours so you can enjoy exploring and walking the trails and visit the boat landing to go fishing. Check our calendar HERE for special events such as the Saturday Story Walks and other fun programming!
This is always a fun place to explore both inside and out behind the museum in the beautiful grounds and sculpture gardens! This is probably one of our BIGGEST hidden gems in the area!
Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park
The trails are OPEN* during normal park hours. This is a great place to get out and enjoy some fresh air and sunshine and maybe learn some fun things about area wildlife and more!
